Aziza Almanakly is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Her research focuses on quantum engineering, specifically controlling quantum systems of superconducting circuits. Her group investigates waveguide quantum electrodynamics (wQED) with superconducting qubits to develop scalable quantum networks for distributed quantum computation and simulation. During her doctoral studies, she developed a chiral quantum interconnect that uses directional photons to generate remote entanglement, an advance published in Nature Physics and currently under patent review. Almanakly earned her Ph.D. (2025) and S.M. (2022) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and her B.E. (2020) in Electrical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
