Yao Wang is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Biomedical Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and an affiliated appointment in the Radiology Department of NYU School of Medicine. Her research interests include Image and Video Processing, Video Compression and Transport, Medical Imaging, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Health. Wang joined the faculty of Polytechnic Institute of New York University in 1990 as an assistant professor and became a professor in 2000. She has been the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at NYU Tandon since 2019. She authored the textbook Video Processing and Communications and has served as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia and Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology. She was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 2004 for her contributions to video processing and communications.
