Stephan Bless is a Professor in the Civil, Urban, and Environmental Engineering department at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. He holds a doctor's degree in Earth and Planetary Sciences from MIT. His research focuses on shock wave physics, the dynamic behavior of materials, and impact engineering. Prof. Bless is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the International Ballistics Society. Before joining NYU in 2012, he was Chief of the Hypervelocity Impact Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin. He has published extensively, including the book 'Rapid Penetration in Granular Materials' (2015).
