Kaitlyn Hanley is an Industry Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. She joined the department in August 2022. Her research focuses on microbial water quality, including microbial source tracking, waterborne pathogens, bacteria total maximum daily loads, and shellfish safety. Since 2007, Dr. Hanley has applied molecular technologies to protect recreational water quality and assess aquaculture. Previously, she taught environmental chemistry and microbiology at Tandon as an Adjunct Professor and worked as a Senior Engineer and Laboratory Project Manager at Wood PLC, leading microbial water quality projects.
