Dr. Mahmoud Iskander is a distinguished professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He is also the Director of the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) at UNLV. Dr. Iskander is internationally recognized for his pioneering research in geotechnical engineering, particularly in the areas of soil behavior, soil-structure interaction, and the development of advanced testing methods. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of granular materials under dynamic loading conditions, and he is a leading expert in the use of transparent soils for visualizing soil behavior in laboratory experiments. Dr. Iskander has published extensively in top-tier journals and has received numerous awards for his contributions to geotechnical engineering. He is also actively involved in professional societies and has mentored many students and young engineers throughout his career.
