Regular biography
Glen MacDonald is a Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on climate change and ecological and societal responses, utilizing tools such as lake and wetland sediment analysis, tree-ring analysis, satellite remote sensing, and modeling. His work includes studies on treelines, drought, vegetation and fire, wetland dynamics, and coastal marshes. Fieldwork has taken place in various regions, including Canada, the western USA, Russia, Mexico, Egypt, Syria, and India. He collaborates with international academic, government, and NGO teams. MacDonald has published over 160 scientific papers and is a Member of the National Academy of Science. He is also known for his efforts in communicating science to broader audiences and policy makers.
