Regular biography
Barry McCarthy is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the UCL School of Management. He holds a Masters degree from the University of Essex and an Undergraduate degree from London Guildhall University, both with specialisations in Accounting, Financial Management, and Performance Management. McCarthy has developed, organised, advised, and lectured on courses in accounting, finance, and business management at several UK higher education institutions. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has worked with professional accountancy bodies to develop vocational courses. With over 15 years of experience as a management consultant in the financial services industry, he has expertise in optimising business efficiency and driving growth for individuals, start-ups, and SMEs. He is also editor/author of two Pearson Custom textbooks and engages in international scholarly activity in cognitive mapping, performance management in the public sector, and the visual analysis of financial reports.
