Regular biography
Matt Jones is an Associate Professor at the UCL School of Management, Department of Business. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from University College London and has over twenty years of experience in higher education. He has held senior academic leadership roles, leading large teams and managing change within complex educational environments. Currently, he serves as Director of Accreditations, overseeing the management and strategic development of the School’s accreditation processes. He teaches mathematics and computing, focusing on equipping students with analytical foundations for machine learning and AI. His research explores how students internalise mathematical ideas through structured problem-solving approaches. He has published in mathematics education and pure mathematics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
