Dimitris Giraleas

Dr Dimitris Giraleas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business at University College London. He is the Programme Director of the MSc in Business Analytics. His specialisations include Applied Statistics, the foundations of Business Analytics, and Performance Analytics. With over 15 years of experience in designing and leading quantitative business courses across UK universities and organisations such as the NHS and DSTL, he has a PhD in Productivity Analysis from Aston University. He is a long-standing member of the OR Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Prior to academia, he worked as an Economics Consultant with over 20 years of experience in the field, mainly as an Academic Associate for Utility companies and their Regulators in the UK and Europe. His consultancy work was recognised in the REF21 Impact case study titled: ‘Impacting regulatory methodology and revenues for gas and electricity transmission in Germany and the Netherlands’.

Dimitris Giraleas is an Associate Professor in Business Analytics at UCL School of Management. His research focuses on Efficiency and Productivity Analysis, Benchmarking, Business Analytics, and Economics of Regulation. He explores methods for assessing productivity change using growth accounting and frontier-based approaches, as well as the measurement and decomposition of economy-wide productivity growth. His work also includes evaluating teaching quality through stochastic frontier analysis and examining unpaid overtime's contribution to industry output. Giraleas emphasizes the importance of selecting accurate productivity measurement approaches, as demonstrated through applications using EU KLEMS data.
