Sally Boss
Regular biography
Professor Sally Boss is a Teaching Professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on the synthesis of heavier transition metal organometallic species for conjugation to protein targets via specific, controlled placement. The aim is to construct and evolve artificial metalloenzymes to explore catalytic activity, selectivity, and new-to-nature reactivity. Her work involves ligand exchange to unmask catalytic activity and the design of metal complexes with sacrificial ligands to generate new enzymes via ligand exchange in proteins. She also engages in teaching, lecturing courses on transition metal complexes and electron deficient compounds, and supervising chemistry students.
