Ian Cotton

Ian Cotton is a Professor of High Voltage Technology at The University of Manchester, affiliated with the School of Engineering. His research focuses on high voltage systems, including aerospace applications, power electronics, and power system transients. He is also involved in projects related to power system plant and sustainability. Cotton has supervised 15 PhD students and authored over 100 papers, contributing to patents and the formation of a spin-off company, Arago Technology. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the IET and IEEE.
