Regular biography
Jonathan Waltho is a Professor of NMR Spectroscopy, Analytical, Measurements and Physical Chemistry at The University of Manchester, School of Chemistry. His research focuses on understanding how proteins change conformation, including enzyme catalysis and amyloid formation, using structural biology and molecular biophysics approaches such as NMR, EM, and X-ray crystallography. Current projects involve studying phosphate and methyl group transfer mechanisms in enzymes, which are important therapeutic targets. He has held various academic positions at The University of Manchester and The University of Sheffield, and is affiliated with several research institutes and platforms, including Dementia@Manchester and the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology.
