Regular biography
Nathan Owston is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at The University of Manchester, Department of Chemistry. His research interests include curriculum design and development, focusing on peer learning, small group learning environments, and assessment, as well as problem-solving in mechanistic organic chemistry at various educational levels. He is also involved in the development of selective oxidation and carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions for terpene natural products. Owston is the Assessment Lead and Curriculum Lead for the Department of Chemistry, overseeing curriculum development, assessment, progression, and degree awards for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programs. He teaches core courses in organic chemistry and supervises research projects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
