Jillian Yeow

Jillian Yeow is a Senior Lecturer in the Management of Projects within the Civil Engineering and Management department at The University of Manchester. Her research interests include project-based forms of work and organising, particularly those enabled by ICT, and innovation management, with a focus on open innovation and innovation ecosystems. She is also involved in science, technology, and innovation policy research. Yeow has taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and led workshops in the Faculty of Humanities' Postgraduate Research Training Programme. Her work contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Partnerships for the Goals.

Her research explores the dynamics of public procurement for innovation, focusing on barriers, policy instruments, and the role of intermediation in connecting demand and supply. She investigates how ICT-enabled project-based organising influences boundary management and sustainable innovation through circular supply chains. Her work also examines the impact of government targets on innovation procurement, such as the UK’s Small Business Research Initiative, and the policy frameworks supporting reverse logistics and steel reuse in construction. Her research highlights the complexities of push-pull dynamics in circular systems and the interplay of job-related and personal factors in professional well-being.
