Peter Stansby is the Osborne Reynolds Chair in Civil Engineering at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on coastal hydrodynamics, wave mechanics, and numerical modeling of environmental flows. He has contributed to projects related to coastal flooding, offshore energy, and wave energy converters, including the development of the Manchester Bobber. Stansby has been involved in numerous research initiatives, including the Tyndall Centre and the Flood Risk Management Research Consortium. His work spans computational fluid dynamics, smoothed particle hydrodynamics, and the application of these methods to marine and coastal engineering challenges. He has published extensively and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers.
