Regular biography
Majid Sedighi is a Reader in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Manchester, Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. His research focuses on geoenvironmental engineering, particularly the coupled thermal, hydraulic, chemical, and mechanical behaviour of geo-materials. He has supervised 16 PhD students and has developed over 60 research outputs, including 30 peer-reviewed journal papers. Sedighi has received two Best Paper Awards, including the ICE’s Environmental Geotechnics Prize in 2019. He is also the Head of Internationalisation (Africa and the Middle East) at the Faculty of Science and Engineering and a member of the Advisory Panel of Géotechnique. His current research projects address environmental challenges related to geothermal energy, clean water access, and contaminant removal in soil and water.
