Regular biography
Dr Timothy Foster is a Reader in Water-Food Security at The University of Manchester, Department of Civil Engineering. He leads the Agriculture, Water and Climate (AWC) Research Group and is affiliated with the Global Development Institute. Foster joined the University of Manchester as a Lecturer in 2016, was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2020, and became a Reader in 2024. Since September 2024, he has served as Director of the Manchester Environmental Research Institute (MERI). His research focuses on the interactions between agriculture, water resources, and climate change, with an emphasis on sustainable management strategies and policy development. Foster's work addresses challenges related to water use, agricultural productivity, and climate resilience in various global contexts.
