Lee Cunningham is a Reader in Structural Engineering at The University of Manchester, Department of Civil Engineering. He joined the university in 2011 and is currently the Discipline Head of Education for Civil Engineering programmes. His research interests include structures subject to extreme loading, structural resilience and durability, and sustainable construction materials. He has authored numerous publications on improving the resilience and durability of structures in response to extreme events. Cunningham is a Chartered Civil & Structural Engineer with over 11 years of industry experience, having worked on major projects such as the Blackpool Central Area Coast Protection Scheme, which received the Institution of Civil Engineers' Brunel Medal in 2011.
