Regular biography
The Hydrodynamics Laboratory at The University of Manchester, within the Civil Engineering department, provides advanced facilities for testing marine and offshore systems. The lab features a large wave flume with eight wave makers, capable of generating waves and turbulent currents to support research into wave energy converters, floating wind platforms, and tidal turbines. Two smaller flumes are also available for teaching, demonstrations, and simpler projects. The lab is one of the largest non-commercial hydrodynamics labs in the UK and offers unique capabilities for simulating real-world environments and optimising offshore renewable energy systems.
