Regular biography
Dr Pat Langridge-Smith is a Reader in Chemical Physics at The University of Edinburgh, Department of Chemistry. His research group, the EMSG, focuses on interdisciplinary measurement science, utilizing advanced mass spectrometric and laser instrumentation. His work includes proteomic technologies through the RASOR program and the training of doctoral students in proteomics, imaging, and microfluidics. Dr Langridge-Smith also leads the Scottish Instrumentation and Resource Centre for Advanced Mass Spectrometry (SIRCAMS), a facility equipped with high-field Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry for structural analysis of biomolecules. His research emphasizes top-down fragmentation techniques for protein, RNA, and DNA analysis.
