Alison Hulme FRSE

Alison Hulme is a Professor of Synthesis and Chemical Biology at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in Natural Products, Asymmetric Synthesis, Imaging (including MR and Raman), and Peptide Staples. Her research focuses on the synthesis of complex natural products, such as (-)-aphanorphine and (-)-eptazocine, and the development of advanced imaging techniques for drug discovery and biological applications. She has also explored the chemical analysis of historical textile dyes and the use of stimulated Raman scattering microscopy for studying drug uptake and intracellular distribution. Her work bridges organic synthesis, analytical chemistry, and bioimaging, contributing to both fundamental science and practical applications in medicine and cultural heritage.
