Regular biography
Dr Richard Yuze Kong is a Chancellor's Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on main-group chemistry, reaction modelling, electronic structure, and main-group catalysis. Kong explores methods to generate reactive main-group species through photochemical and dehydrocoupling approaches, utilizing synthetic, computational, and spectroscopic techniques to study organometallic reactivity. He previously worked with Professor Mark Crimmin at Imperial College London and Professor Kyle Lancaster at Cornell University, where he studied the application of X-ray absorption spectroscopy to understand reactivity at Sn centres. Kong joined the University of Edinburgh in 2025 to pursue independent research in these areas.
