Euan K Brechin FRSE

Professor Euan K Brechin FRSE is a member of the Chemistry department at The University of Edinburgh. His research interests include coordination chemistry, molecular magnetism, magnetic refrigeration, spin frustration, single-molecule magnets, magneto-structural correlations, and molecular iron oxides. Professor Euan K. Brechin is a chemist specializing in the synthesis and characterization of single-molecule magnets (SMMs) and molecular coolers. His research focuses on the development of advanced magnetic materials with applications in magnetic refrigeration and quantum technologies. He has published extensively on the synthesis of 3d metallic SMMs, the design of calixarene-based magnetic coolers, and the exploration of mixed-valent Mn clusters for enhanced magnetic cooling. His work also includes studies on the magnetostructural correlations of Mn6 SMMs and the observation of quantum coherence in SMMs. These efforts contribute to the understanding of magnetic relaxation mechanisms and the design of materials for cryogenic applications.
