Maya Al Sid Sheikh

Maya Al-Sid-Cheikh is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, School of Chemistry. Her research focuses on the fate and behavior of emerging contaminants in environmental interface compartments, utilizing tools from radiolabelling, analytical chemistry, and synthetic chemistry. She is also committed to promoting awareness of barriers faced by underrepresented groups in science and finding solutions to address these challenges. Prior to her current position, she held a senior lectureship at the University of Surrey and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Plymouth, where she worked under Prof. Steve J. Rowland and Prof. Richard C. Thompson. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Rennes 1 and holds MSc degrees in Analytical Chemistry and Oceanography from the University of Toulon and the University of Quebec at Rimouski, respectively.
