Mahdi Hosseini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University. His research interests include quantum optics, nanophotonics, quantum materials, quantum communication, and quantum sensing. His work focuses on studying light-matter interactions in platforms such as rare-earth crystals, room-temperature gases, and nano-photonic structures, with the goal of advancing quantum communication and sensing technologies. Hosseini's group investigates the dynamics of light-atom interactions and their applications in quantum optical communication and sensing. His research includes quantum light generation, storage, and enhanced sensing using optomechanical and atomic systems.
