Mark Hersam

Mark Hersam is the Chair of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University's Department of Electrical Engineering. He is also a Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and (by courtesy) Electrical and Computer Engineering and Chemistry. He serves as Director of the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC). His research focuses on low-dimensional nanoelectronic materials, including carbon nanotubes, graphene, and transition metal dichalcogenides. His work explores synthesis, functionalization, and integration of these materials into van der Waals heterostructures for applications in electronics, energy, and quantum computing.
