Regular biography
Fok-Shuen Leung is a Faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at The University of British Columbia. He obtained his doctoral degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford. Leung is Professor of Teaching and Undergraduate Chair of the Mathematics Department. His research interests include educational innovation and teaching methodologies. He has received several awards, including the Canadian Mathematical Society Excellence in Teaching Award and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences Education Prize. Leung is also a two-time winner of the Killam Teaching Prize. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of big ideas in mathematics education and the use of small-class models to enhance student learning.
