Brian Wetton

Brian Wetton is a Faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at The University of British Columbia. He obtained a PhD in Mathematics from the Courant Institute of NYU in 1991. His research interests include Scientific Computation, Industrial Mathematics, and Modelling Electrochemical Systems. He has received several awards, including the 1992 Kurt O. Friedrichs award, the 2000 Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences Industrial Outreach Prize, the 2008 Alan Blizzard award, and the 2010 CAIMS/MITACS Industrial Research Prize. He was the leader of the Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computation group of MITACS 1999-2008 and Director of the UBC Institute of Applied Mathematics 2013-2018. His work focuses on numerical methods for partial differential equations, industrial applications, and mathematical modelling in materials science and electrochemical systems.
