Scholar-generated biography
Orlando J. Rojas is a researcher at the University of British Columbia and Aalto University, focusing on colloids, soft matter, emulsions, lignin, and cellulose nanocrystals. His work explores the chemistry, self-assembly, and applications of cellulose nanocrystals, as well as the properties and uses of nanocellulose in composites and coatings. Rojas investigates the effects of residual lignin on nanocellulose films and develops sustainable materials through nanocellulose assembly. His research also includes Pickering emulsions stabilized by cellulose nanocrystals and the synthesis of advanced electrocatalysts from biomass. His studies contribute to the development of eco-friendly materials and technologies for packaging, energy, and biomedical applications.
