Regular biography

Derek Atkins is a Retired Faculty member at The University of British Columbia, affiliated with the BUS department. His research interests include Supply Chain Management, design and operation of inventory systems for both retail and manufacturing products, inventory management, safety management, maintenance, policy setting and implementation, production planning and scheduling systems, and the design and staffing of customer support facilities. He has focused on multi-stage and multi-echelon inventory and production systems. His work includes publications on topics such as inventory management, healthcare policy, and operations research applications in emergency care and long-term care capacity planning.
