Qiaoran XI

Qiaoran XI is a Faculty member in the School of Life Sciences at Tsinghua University. Dr. XI holds a Ph.D. and is an Associate Professor, having completed their undergraduate studies at Nanjing University (1989-1993) and earned a Ph.D. from New York University Medical Center (2004-2005). They completed postdoctoral research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (2006-2013) and have been affiliated with Tsinghua University since 2013. Their research focuses on the interplay between cellular signaling and the epigenome, particularly in the context of TGF-β responses and BMP signaling in diseases such as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). Dr. XI offers courses in Molecular Biology and related research training.

Qiaoran Xi's research focuses on TGFbeta signaling, cancer, embryonic stem cells, and epigenetic regulation. Their work explores the molecular mechanisms underlying TGF-β pathways, including Smad transcriptional activation, chromatin accessibility, and the role of non-coding RNAs. Xi investigates how epigenetic regulation influences stem cell differentiation and cancer progression, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between TGF-β signaling and the epigenome. Key studies include the structural basis of Smad interactions, the role of long non-coding RNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma, and the regulation of translation by viral proteins. These findings contribute to understanding the complex regulatory networks in development and disease.
