Qianwen SUN

Qianwen SUN is a Faculty member in the School of Life Sciences at Tsinghua University, Beijing. She holds a Ph.D. and is currently an Associate Professor (Tenured) since 2022. Her research interests include genome regulation events, particularly focusing on chromatin states and semi-autonomous organelles. SUN has contributed to several publications in prominent journals such as Nature Plants and The Plant Cell, with her work addressing topics like R-loop dynamics and chromatin regulation. She is also affiliated with the Center for Life Sciences, Beijing, and has held positions as a Principal Investigator and Postdoctoral fellow at the John Innes Centre in the UK.

Qianwen Sun's research focuses on transcription resistive genome regulation, particularly in plants. Their work explores mechanisms such as R-loop formation, antisense transcription, and chromatin state switching during processes like vernalization and floral development. Sun investigates how RNA modifications, like m6A, influence transcription termination and genome stability. They also examine the role of histone modifications, DNA topoisomerases, and RNase H1 in maintaining genome integrity. Additionally, Sun studies long non-coding RNAs and their functions in plant biology, including their involvement in heterochromatin formation and reprogramming to pluripotency.
