Michelle Alexopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on macroeconomics and applied econometrics. She has published in leading journals such as the American Economic Review and the Journal of Monetary Economics. Alexopoulos has held several leadership roles within the Canadian Economics Association, including President from 2023 to 2024 and Vice-President from 2022 to 2023. She is also a Bank of Canada Fellow and has served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada since 2025. Her academic profile includes teaching courses on advanced economic theory and macroeconomic theory.
