Susan Andrews

Professor Susan Andrews is a member of the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on environmental engineering, specifically within the Drinking Water Research Group. Her work centers on optimizing water treatment processes, particularly in drinking water disinfection, with an emphasis on balancing pathogen inactivation and minimizing chemical by-products. She explores alternative disinfection technologies, including ultraviolet and solar methods, as substitutes for traditional chemical disinfectants. Professor Andrews' research spans global projects and often involves interdisciplinary collaboration. She is a Program leader for the Canadian Water Network and has held leadership roles in professional organizations. Her research has been published in respected journals and presented at national and international conferences.
