Minghan Xu

Minghan Xu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on Mining Engineering, Thermal Science, and Renewable Energy, with an emphasis on sustainable mining and energy systems. His lab, the Mine Energy and Thermal Advancement Lab (METAL), explores clean energy technologies for the mining industry, including mine electrification, ventilation, and renewable energy solutions for northern and remote mines. His work integrates physics-based modeling, optimization, and experiments to address challenges in cold climates and promote sustainable energy innovations. Xu is also committed to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in the mining sector through research and personnel recruitment.
