Mason Ghafghazi

Mason Ghafghazi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on geotechnical engineering, mining, and geomechanics, with an emphasis on numerical and physical modelling of geotechnical processes. His work addresses practical industry challenges related to soils and soil-like materials, utilizing advanced laboratory testing, large-scale testing, and constitutive modelling. Ghafghazi has eight years of experience as a geotechnical engineer, having worked on projects involving embankment dams, lifelines, bridges, and mines. His research interests include the behaviour of gravelly soils, liquefaction assessment, and geotechnical field investigation.
