John Hadjigeorgiou is a Professor and holds the Pierre Lassonde Chair in Mining Engineering at the University of Toronto's Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering. His research focuses on Mining Engineering, with expertise in Mining & Geomechanics. His work includes managing risk in mining operations, geomechanical data reliability, surface mining, squeezing ground conditions, ground support, and materials handling. He has developed methodologies for geotechnical data confidence and contributed to industry standards such as the Squeezing Hard Rock index. His research has been supported by major mining companies and research councils, and he has authored numerous publications and books on ground support and mining engineering.
