LEE Yi-Chieh

LEE Yi-Chieh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the National University of Singapore. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2021. Prior to joining NUS, he was a researcher at NTT, Japan. His research interests include human-computer interaction, CSCW, social computing, conversational user interfaces, and human-centered AI. He focuses on designing AI conversational agents to promote mental well-being and behaviour change. His work explores the intersection of AI technologies and social impact, aiming to create new social interventions for human-AI interaction.

Yi-Chieh (EJ) Lee is a researcher focused on Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Conversational AI, Healthcare, and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). Their work explores the design and evaluation of AI-based conversational agents for mental health promotion, self-disclosure, and reducing stigma around mental illness. Lee also investigates the ethical and social implications of AI companionship, including harmful algorithmic behaviors in human-AI relationships. Additionally, they examine the impact of digital gifting and monetary incentives on social interactions in live streaming and online communities. Their research spans both technical and social aspects of AI, with a particular emphasis on user experience and mental well-being in healthcare contexts.
