Prof Hilmi Volkan Demir is a professor at Nanyang Technological University, affiliated with the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences (Joint Appointment), and the School of Materials Science & Engineering (Courtesy Appointment). He serves as Director of the LUMINOUS! Centre of Excellence for Semiconductor Lighting & Displays. His research interests include semiconductor nanocrystals and devices, semiconductor emission processes and devices, solution-processed nanocrystals, colloidal nanocrystal-based lasers, nanocrystal-based LEDs, deep UV light sources, semiconductor epitaxy, device platforms, integrated nano-bio interfaces, materials for energy conversion, and theoretical and computational studies for novel quantum emitters.
