Jesse Rothstein

Jesse Rothstein is the Carmel P. Friesen Professor of Public Policy and Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, and Director of the California Policy Lab. His research focuses on labor economics and public economics, with an emphasis on inequality, education, wage determination, and tax and transfer policy. Rothstein joined the Berkeley faculty in 2009 after serving as Senior Economist at the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers and Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Labor during the 2009-10 academic year. He previously held an assistant professor position at Princeton University and earned his Ph.D. in economics from UC Berkeley in 2003.
