CHI Robin Yonggui

CHI Robin Yonggui is a Professor at Nanyang Technological University, School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB). Yonggui Robin Chi is a researcher at Nanyang Technological University specializing in chemistry, with a focus on organocatalysis and its applications in asymmetric synthesis. His work explores the use of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) to catalyze enantioselective reactions, including Michael additions, cycloadditions, and oxidative processes. Chi's research also investigates the activation of carboxylic esters and the functionalization of benzylic C(sp³)–H bonds through organocatalytic mechanisms. His studies highlight the role of ionic interactions, Lewis acid/NHC cooperative catalysis, and radical reactions in achieving high enantioselectivity. These efforts contribute to the development of efficient and sustainable synthetic methods for constructing complex molecules.
