Zhao, Yan

Dr. Zhao, Yan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University. Her research interests include traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and cancer biology. She focuses on the anti-cancer and anti-diabetic effects of extracts from Chinese herbal medicines, as well as toxicity and pharmacokinetic studies on herbal extracts. Dr. Zhao also establishes in vivo models for senile dementia and ischemia-reperfusion in rats and conducts patho-physiological studies on new Chinese medicine therapies for senile dementia. Her work includes mechanistic studies on ischemia-reperfusion injury and clinical research on the management of diabetes using traditional Chinese medicine approaches.
