Edward Miguel

Edward Miguel is Distinguished Professor of Economics and Oxfam Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He teaches in the Department of Economics and has been affiliated with the university since 2000. His research focuses on Development Economics, with particular emphasis on African economic development, the economic causes and consequences of violence, and interactions between health, education, environment, and productivity for the poor. Miguel has conducted fieldwork in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and India. He is also Faculty Co-Director of the Center for Effective Global Action and co-founder of the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences.
