Regular biography
Assoc. Prof. Thirumaran Thanabalu is an Associate Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University. His research focuses on the role of N-WASP in actin cytoskeleton dynamics, cell migration, and cancer biology, particularly its dual role as a tumour suppressor and promoter. His work explores how N-WASP influences cancer metastasis, skin homeostasis, and inflammatory conditions such as atopic dermatitis. He leads a research group that employs molecular and cell biology techniques to characterise the molecular mechanisms underlying these processes. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Cancers, Biology, and Scientific Reports.
