Assoc. Prof. Xavier Roca is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair (Research) in the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University. His research focuses on the mechanisms of pre-messenger RNA splicing in human cells, with an emphasis on alternative splicing, its role in disease, and its biological context. His work combines computational, molecular, and cell biology methods to address challenges in splicing-related genetic disorders and to explore the impact of alternative splicing in innate immune cells and antiviral gene regulation. Roca's research also aims to identify therapeutic targets and develop RNA-based therapies.
