Dr. Hong, Yan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University. Her research focuses on tropical fungi that threaten urban forestry and wooden structures, with an emphasis on understanding their roles in wood decay and developing diagnostic tools for early detection. She has also explored sustainable biocontrol strategies and contributed to advancing Jatropha curcas as a biofuel crop through genetic and genomic studies. Her work includes metagenomic surveys, PCR-based assays, and electronic nose technologies for fungal diagnosis. Dr. Hong's research areas encompass plant biotechnology, sustainable bioresources, and tropical fungi biology.
