Scott Stern

Scott Stern is the David Sarnoff Professor of Management of Technology at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research focuses on the economics of innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly entrepreneurial strategy, innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystems, and innovation policy and management. Stern explores how innovation and entrepreneurship differ from traditional economic activities and the implications for strategy and policy. He has worked with practitioners to bridge academic research and innovation practice, including advising start-ups and governments on policy issues. Stern has developed courses, co-founded programs, and contributed to initiatives such as the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program and the Social Progress Index. He is also the director and co-founder of the Innovation Policy Working Group at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
