Johan Chu

Johan Chu is the Sarofim Family Career Development Assistant Professor and an Assistant Professor of System Dynamics at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research examines power, focusing on how recently developed technologies, such as generative AI, influence social contention and market competition. He explores factors leading to durable dominance of nations, companies, and ideas, as well as how individuals and companies direct mass attention in a globalized world. His work employs simulation, large datasets, and computational methods, with study contexts ranging from the Korean film industry to NBA competition. Prior to joining MIT Sloan, he taught at Chicago Booth and Northwestern Kellogg.
