Haihao Lu

Haihao Lu is the Cecil and Ida Green Career Development Assistant Professor and an Assistant Professor of Operations Research/Statistics at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Before joining MIT Sloan, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a faculty researcher at Google Research's large-scale optimization team. His research focuses on optimization, computation, and data science, particularly in advancing large-scale optimization through first-order methods and scalable solvers. His work includes the development of the PDLP algorithm, which has been adopted by industry leaders such as Google and Gurobi. Lu also explores data-driven optimization for resource allocation, with applications in online advertising. His research has received recognition, including awards from INFORMS and COIN-OR.
