Deborah L. Ancona

Deborah L. Ancona is the Seley Distinguished Professor of Management and a Professor of Organization Studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Her research focuses on how successful teams operate, emphasizing the importance of managing both inside and outside team boundaries. This work led to the concept of X-Teams as a method for fostering innovation in large organizations. Ancona also explores distributed leadership and develops tools to support creative leadership across organizations. She is the author of the book X-Teams: How to Build Teams That Lead, Innovate, and Succeed and has published extensively in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal and the MIT Sloan Management Review. Ancona is also the Founder of the MIT Leadership Center.
